60th edition of the Salone del Mobile

This year’s edition will be historic, a rebirth for the Milanese event. The key values of this year will be themes dear to the design and furniture industry: quality, sustainability, innovation, well-being. Last but not least, the celebration of beauty, a topical theme in the panorama of Italian design.

In the words of Maria Porro, new president of the Salone del Mobile: “The event, in addition to celebrating an important anniversary, will focus on the theme of sustainability, acting as a showcase for the progress made in this regard by creatives, designers and companies. “

Sustainability

Our relationship with nature is therefore a primary source of inspiration for this edition, which with the impressive installation by architect Mario Cucinella, wants to think about the issues of environmental sustainability, circularity and product reusability. Cucinella’s vision, which will have the name of “Design with Nature”, of ecological transition, of the house and the city as places of socializing and sharing with others and with nature itself. A complex ecosystem condensed into 1400 square meters, like our planet, waiting to be discovered.

What to expect

June will be a special edition, which will include EuroCucina with 82 total exhibitors and the International Bathroom Exhibition with 172 exhibitors, including Relax. One of the most anticipated returns of this year is undoubtedly that of the Salone Satellite. Exhibition created specifically for young designers under 35 (this year there will be more than 600). Young people from international design schools, to whom exhibition spaces are reserved. The goal: to foster contact between young designers and furniture companies. This is a way for the Salone del Mobile to express the inclination to research, innovation and artistic vocation that has always characterized the Milanese event.

International Bathroom Exhibition

The International Bathroom Exhibition returns post-pandemic with many new features. Approaching the spectators in presence will allow producers to touch the innovation and originality present at the fair. One of the new trends in the bathroom world, such as wellness, linked to the psycho-physical well-being of the person, will be the protagonist during this international event. We will talk about sauna, Turkish bath and other solutions designed specifically for home wellness. There is also space for the customization of your own wellness area: multiple finishes for a very colorful bathroom.

Focus on materials

Finally, great focus on materiality as a concrete continuity solution between design and the final consumer. In a world attracted and distracted at the same time by the infinite possibilities of digital, what has been lacking in these two years of pandemic is undoubtedly physical contact. Not only interpersonal, but above all material. The intrinsic link between man and tactile experience will be the protagonist of this show, with proposals for new materials, often linked to the natural world, in an absolute circularity with the key values of this year.
