Aluminium profiles
The profiles of the Relax shower enclosures are made of aluminium because it is a material that has many advantages. It has the best relationship between the solidity and the weight of the structure, is light and very resistant to corrosion. Once exposed to air and humidity it forms a layer of self-protective oxide that protects the surface from any further oxidation. Aluminium is not affected by UV radiation, does not rust, requires very little maintenance and is 100% recyclable. It can be painted in different colors or oxidized to give a more elegant and refined aesthetic result.
Steel profiles
The profiles of the shower enclosures can also be made of steel, a heavy material that therefore makes the transport and handling of the cabin more expensive. The main advantage is the flexibility of the material, which allows you to create even unique pieces.
Its limit is given by the final cost, even twice as much as an aluminium shower. Relax, to provide a valid alternative as a value for money, has created a surface finish that matches exactly that of steel, and is aesthetically equal to a steel shower enclosure.
Shower profiles: treatments and finishes
The treatments of the aluminium surfaces of the shower profiles increase their durability over time and maintain their original beauty without requiring subsequent retouching or further coatings. Relax, for example, performs these treatments not only on profiles, but on all aluminium parts, such as handles.
A first choice is the anodizing process that involves a real surface transformation of aluminium without addition of material, able to protect from corrosion, increase the resistance to wear and abrasion and give a natural staining. A second choice is the powder coating process, which consists of a layer deposited on the surface. The varnish used by Relax is the same applied on exterior windows and has a minimum guaranteed duration of 7 years.
